Won't let this happen again

This was the second time I got hooked up in my door handle with this shirt. Scary as hell. I won't let this happen again. Many modern viewers might find it improbable when they see something like this in an old movie, but it happened to me. Watch out.

Well, if you were Rebel Without a Cause you would have been able to jump out of the car before it went over the cliff! In that movie the door handle pointed forward.

When I was a kid, my dad had a beautiful ChrisCraft speed boat, late 40's vintage.
Once while docking, his shirt caught the throttle which was was like a model A light switch, on the center of the wheel. Throttle up...crash into the dock...immediately up to the garage for a hacksaw so that never happened again. It was really a nice boat, I'm sure someone restoring it would be mad the handle was cut off!

Should the handle be pointing forward and slightly up?

Nope. The factory photos indicate my handle is in the correct position.

I see no reason not to pull the handle and reinstall at 180 degrees. When you are going to a judged car show, switch it back and wear a welding glove on your left hand. I can see how scary that can be heading into a right hand turn!

My '40 Deluxe handle is mounted exactly the same way and never a problem if I just roll up my left sleeve a bit.

Thanks. Not worth the effort or the potential damage to the original and easily damaged door panels. It is a Rouge car.

The handle is fine as long as I don't wear a shirt that will get caught in.

Ok, I'm seeing there is more to this than I originally thought. Not only does the handle in the cuff inhibit proper use of the steering wheel, but it also opens the door? Yikes. Also I now get that it's a very valuable original car. How about a couple more pics of the car before you sign off?

You're right, but the movie Director must have thought the effect would be more dramatic with the handle pointed forward.
What is really odd is apparently nobody else on this thread remembers this Classic we all grew up with!

I remember it. How can you forget it? It is my contention that had Dean lived, he would be sick of talking about this film.
