Success: fixing my ignition

Hi everyone, I‘ve been lurking for a while now and did not have much to say. However I would like to report that I managed to get my ignition fixed.

The problem was that the car would stall when really hot. Personal experience as well as an extensive search on the Ford Barn hinted that either the coil or the condenser could be bad.

I sent my distributor, coil and condenser to Skip Haney and he rebuilt coil and distributor, set the timing on his machine and gave me a new condensor.

The car now runs better than ever, it has more power now and it sounds great. Obviously timing has a big impact on how an engine runs but it is still impressive to witness firsthand how much.

I am very happy with the end result and can confirm that Skip Haney offers excellent service and does quality work.

Glad to hear of your success. Yes, all of what you mentioned is important. You "may" want to snag another condenser and put it in your glove box as a spare, NOW, IF anything is to leave you stranded, the condenser will "most" likely be the culprit.....Having a spare condenser and a 1/2" wrench and a screw driver and 10 minutes time you will be back on the road!!!!

I have a Skip Haney coil on a stationary engine….never ran as good till I put that coil on…I agree with a little tune-up can make a big difference…my ‘50 Fordor seemed to be running a little rough…I changed the points and set the timing and it’s like a new car……Mark
