Can anyone identify this mystery Ford part?
It looks like the base of a hood handle, like on 1937 Fords, but appears to be different?
A friend owns it, but I can't read the Part Number?

That's a Whatchamacallit Flange for a Youzadriveit.
I think you're missing a photo in your post.

Stupid question, I suppose there is no part number on the part or the box?

Ford Prefect Hood Release Trim Piece
Thanks to Randy for pointing us in the right direction.
After checking the eBay listing which says the part is for a Ford Pilot V8, I started to do some research.
On all my photos of Ford Pilots, this Trim Piece was different to the piece in question.
I then contacted a friend who owns a Ford Pilot V8, and he told me that this part was for a Ford Prefect.
So, now we have the correct answer to identifying this mystery part.
Thanks to all who commented and contributed to this Thread.

I have to say, looking at the Prefect, while neither perfect or rare... its well done.
