Hershey Haul

We didn’t sell much, but we didn’t have great stuff to sell.

Lots of Model A parts. I found a T windshield I needed and a few other things I wanted. Closing up early on the day before the car show is a tradition.

I sold quite a few restored generators, including 5 model A type. Came home with 4 milk crates of generator cores to keep me busy over the winter.

My best find at Hershey was a K.R. Wilson brush sander for the cylindrical type model A generators. I restore these generators, so been looking out for one. It still has sandpaper on it :-)

Back home now.
Good foot traffic all 4 days, the row I'm in CJ/CI had alot of the spots that were full. Went around Thursday evening, the south chocolate field still had a lot of vendors at 7pm.

I thought the crowds were good and I sold a lot of stuff. No big ticket items but lots of smalls. My large $1 box was popular and I sold enough out of it alone to cover three nights hotel expense.

The weather was perfect!! But Hershey has changed after 56 trips. Good spots, lots of lookers but few sales un till wednesday late and early thursday. No showers, many empty vending spots, East vending spots was very sad for the vendors. Many of the BIG vendors were not there.

For sure. That's normally my last spot to cruise through before going home and this year, I didn't even do it. I looked at the number of vendors, the distance to walk, and time to beat traffic on the way home and decided it wasn't worth it. I would have been really put out to be a vendor out there as I'm sure I'm not the only one who made this kind of calculation.

The "$1 box" comment was one I heard with several vendors. That seemed to be the most popular kind of sale. I know for me, making a pile of odds and ends, I was happy to pay a dollar for something I "might" need at some point, but really wasn't looking for it. :)
