I am hearing rumors from old time Hershey participants that the Hershey Fall Meet is in decline? That there are fewer sellers and perhaps fewer attendees? What say you all who went there this year?

There is a very large portion of southern collectors and vendors that traditionally come to Hershey. Unfortunately, they are dealing with Helena Hurricane and Milton Hurricane. That would take priority over a car event.

there are places you can hardly walk through the crowds
a lot of people carrying large purchases.
I sold over 50% of what I brought.
I found everything on my list at reasonable prices

well, for the heck of it, wife son and I headed out there for a few hours today. Havent been there in about 10 yrs.

Honestly, was shocked at all the empty spaces and a few vendors even said they hadnt sold a thing.

needless to say- wont be going back anytime soon and if it still exists in 10 yrs, Ild be shocked. sorry to say that..........

Well I have been going to Hershey for the last 40 years and ever since Covid the attendance and vendors has dropped off. There were a lot of empty spaces and very few buyers. I’m seriously considering not selling anymore due to poor sales with all the work getting ready, pricing, packing and hauling it to the show. I may just come back to shop. Let’s face it all swaps are dying.
Hershey is the largest swap and still fun to explore but selling is not worth the effort anymore. Just my opinion. Any other thoughts out there?
I will add that I did find some nos 31 running board splash aprons, lt side nos L/2829 r/board splash apron, nos 28/29 open w/shield posts. Also some excellent used items.

We have been selling at Hershey for a bajillion years and this year was our second best year ever! We had active buyers stopping by all day, every day.

At one crowded time in our spaces, there was a buyer who asked for a discount but then another buyer on the other side of the crowded stand said that he would buy the item at full price.....a bidding war. We even had several customers with flashlights stop by after we were closed for the day asking about items they had heard that we had for sale.

The foreign buyers were also out in force this year. We made sales to buyers from Germany, Canada, Mexico, Portugal, France, Switzerland, Austria, Sweden, Turkey, Finland and Greece. .....and even made a sale in Euro.

Old, clean, oil cans, in good condition, were on fire this year as were most other petromobilia. But we also sold lots of other old car related items as well including pre-war sales literature, old car and oil company posters, some parts, automotive toys, and lots of smalls.

The five empty spaces opposite from us helped channel the passing buyers to our stand.....so no complaints here about the vacant spaces.

My best year ever, saw plenty of people carrying things they bought.
I could have used a heper with sales Monday-Wednesday.......Thursday I had a helper,we both stayed busy from @ 9-2 Plenty of customers came back a second and third time.
Lots of Canadians. Signs and Oyster cans attracted folks and having Steve beside me with his nice generator display made people stop.
People stop at nice displays, they tend to walk past the junk piles and stuff on the ground.
We talked up the Mid Atlantic Pre war meet in Luray VA.....lots of interest.

I probably had as much fun at Hershey this year than ever and I always have a good time. The stellar weather had something to do with it.

I didn't sell much, but I didn't have much good stuff to sell, but I am not really there to sell. I put some stuff in someone else's space and am happy to sell anything.

I love the car show. I wonder whether moving it to Friday cuts down on attendance? It didn't seem as crowded this year at the car show, but I find it hard to gauge. I got tons of comments and questions about my car in the show.

Jim, the Largest Swap is the Pate Swap Meet with over 10,000+ spaces sold. It is at the Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth Texas. It is also been growing every year. How do I know these facts? Because I’m on the BOD for the Pate Swap Meet. Good seeing you at Hershey!

You better contact AACA/Hershey so they can change the fake news/misleading information on the program cover.
