Slant Windshield Town Sedan vs Std Fordor

Is there an easy way to tell between the different slant windshield Fordor models? I assume that it’s mostly interior differences. Searching photos isn’t reliable because people either call the car whatever they want or have a car that’s had some degree of options added over the years.

the 160 A standard four door does not have cowl lights, dome light, arm rest, reveals under the door window frame. the 160B has all of them. the 160 C deluxe four door had all the same as the 160B but it is a blind back.

Thank you. That’s what I had figured so far, just wanted to confirm with someone in the know.

In addition to what John Hash mentioned, there are other interior differences in the 160 A. The 160 A does have a dome light, with an integral switch. The interior handles are different. The 160 A has a rubber mat in front and no pockets on the doors. A Lombard Blue and Black paint scheme is also a unique difference, although otherwise it can be painted the same as the B and C.

With regard to the door handles, one had smooth handles, right? Do these look like 160A or B handles? I know the woodgraining isn’t quite the right color.

The interior is correct for a 160B Town Sedan, as is the window handle and escutcheon. The door handle I am not sure about. It is not clear in the picture, but it is mounted 180 degrees off. The picture showed the correct handles.

Thanks for the help. The door handles are the same as the photo you posted. All four of them are upside down then.

One important difference I’ve noted is that I believe the Standard versions had the dome light mounted centrally in the passenger compartment while the Town Sedans had it mounted rearwards, just over the rear window. That is kind of hard to change post-manufacture.

Another is that the Town Sedans had a pull down center armrest in the rear upper seat cushion. I don’t see that in your picture.

And I agree with Bill, the handles are 180 degrees off.

The 160B had a fold down armrest? I can’t find a photo of one anywhere. I only find ‘29 and ‘30 seats with the center rest.

I do not believe that the 160 B or C had a fold down armrest. They did have rear side windows that rolled part way down.

I have what I believe is an early 160B, and it has a rear center fold down arm rest. Maybe a holdover from the 155?

My 160A is trying hard to be a 160B but the dome light in the wrong position is giving it away. But it still has the rear windows rolldown option.

Jay Jay, that’s interesting. Does your have a flat firewall?

Yes. Assuming the titled number is the frame number, I think this is a January 1931 car. Having said that, considering other things I’ve found on the car, I would not put it past the “restorer” from the 1980s to have substituted a 155 rear seat cushion.
