Oh Ron, you lucky guy. I’ve been eyeing that on Facebook for a while. Just couldn’t justify adding another car to the fleet… Did it come with paperwork?

Wow! That Victoria is similar to mine.

My favorite A.Steel top,no puffy tops.A slant Fordor would serve me just fine too. That is the kind of car I would find now that I have been selling off a lot of extra stuff.Just sold a nice pair of 31 running boards and aprons, and two nice pairs of running boards. Also just sold a new W/S frame that I bought from Gene Bunce just about 20 years ago.I've always found if I sell all my horns,I will buy a car missing the horn.Sold some nice rumble cushions, then bought a car missing the cushions.

Yeah, a steel back Vicky, or a two door Phaeton would be two favorites that I will likely never own. :(

no paperwork, but I have that covered......:)

out there cleaning it up as we speak...........

I actually prefer the leatherbacks, but like them both. this car is in pretty good shape.
looks like someone did a nice restoration and then their kid left it in the driveway for too long.

Keith, cant tell you how many times I have sold off parts to clean up, only to find I need those parts 6 months later!

My brother recently bought a 1931 Victoria that had been stored in a barn for about 10 years. The previous owner said he had been trying to sell it for about a year. This was listed on Facebook also. We just got it running a week ago.

The Vicky is probably my least favourite car in the Model A range. Any Vicky here is a more recent import - none sold here in the day.

The squirrels got to the running board.

already replaced with a repro.

cleaned it up a bit and will see if I keep it and move another or sell it and move on.

Just bought a cabrio as well and cant possibly keep them all. but fun in the find!

sorry we couldnt make you smile Synchro...........

I'm married so I don't smile very often!:)

so quick question on the roof-if I dont sell the car this week, would like to make the wood for the roof. The kits are pretty pricey. I have some nice ash out in the garage. What does it take to build the top frame? Are there drawings with dimensions for this?

thx!

So Ronn, I can give you assembly drawings of the top wood, but I can also tell you the dimensions are based on sweeps, which is difficult to transfer. A better method would be to use what you have as samples and adjust with body filler to makeup for voids or deteriorated areas before you do your layout & cutting.

I have taken the liberty to ask what your plans are for the areas I have marked with red arrows? Is the middle section of the R/S Rear Floor Sill wood deteriorated and missing? That rust in the cowl and door looks nasty too. Is the same on the opposite side? What do you do about that? did the hood just get set back on for the ride, -or is there other issues there??

Hey Brent,
thanks so much for getting back to me. Yes all of the lower arrows need metal work, esp that door. the hood is just set on. Not sure what your upper red arrows are referring to regarding the windshield?
I have a decent looking header, and then ALL of the rest of the roof wood is gone. No templates at all. Please explain "sweeps".

thank you.

thank you.

Look at the print below and notice on 1.00" intervals there is a fraction. The issue is you must find a centerline, then mark it off 90° to the centerline in one-inch intervals, ...and then take their bizarre fractions and convert them to decimals where you can accurately intersect the sweeping curves on a piece of layout paper. Then when you are finished, you cut it out as an overlay. Because of this and having multiple angles, sometimes you must make3, or 4, or 5 (-or more) templates and keep overlaying in both directions. When was the last time you used fractions such as 43/64th, 59/64th, 3/64th, 31/64th, 55/64th, 31/32nds, etc. to layout measurements on a wood item. Then you must layout a whole new set of sweeps when figuring the perpendicular angle of that wood piece. Again, we have found Ford's engineering prints for Wood to be very stressful to work with because missing one number generally changes the entire shape ...often turning that piece into firewood.

OK, completely gotcha. that is indeed a nutty process, set for failure.

so the sweeps are basically the curvature from one end to the other and every single piece is diff from the next........... and then the sweep also going horizontal and needs to be factored in there as well.

and I thought the rear posts on a 52 Buick woody were difficult! lol

hence the cost from the supply houses.
