Carburetor test stand

Upon learning that fuel in the bowl should be 5/8" below top casting, it became very evident that using the fuel level sight gauge while leaning over the fender was not going to be easy or accurate, and if adjustments were needed it would entail removal, disassembly, etc. I have seen a couple references to a test stand, and was particularly taken with Tom Endy's article. I built my own test stand out of scraps in the shop. Other than sheet metal I keep all metal scraps and cut-offs on the grounds that they might come in handy. The gas tank is from a lawnmower--I asked the local small engine guy for a tank from any small engine headed for the scrap pile. The shut-off valve is hardware store stuff, and the Zenith bowl fitting is not available at hardware stores or auto stores as I discovered. Got mine from Tam's. This stand isn't a thing of beauty, but it puts the project at good working level, and the price was right.

Your carb is not level, as your motor is at an angle?? Nice stand tho.!

OK, so now work on a flow bench. You will need some sort of vacuum system and a way of accurately measuring air flow and fuel flow. I think water is used instead of gasoline as it is hard to ignite accidentally.
