2 hours worth of Stooges on METV Saturday night. L A did have a premiere light rail system but tore it all out for the autos . Could also be said for most larger cities of that era.

The real story is the trolley in the background. The Pacific Electric. From Who Framed Roger Rabbit - Hey, mister. Ain't you got a car? Eddie Valiant : Who needs a car in L.A.? We have the best public transportation system in the world.

When you look at street scenes from the twenties and thirties they are loaded with trollies and street cars. You never see them in modern movies set in the old days

Passenger train units were called cars. Trolleys, which originally were pulled by horses, were called street cars. The money to ride was car fare. Growing up in the 1950’s I was confused when my mother took us in NYC subways and buses and referred to car fare. Sure didn’t look like a car to me.

Visit "Southern California Railway Museum" in Perris, CA. Well worth the day there! And if in Pennsylvania see the HUGE railway museum there. You won't be disappointed. They love to see old cars parked in their lot. LRF

There are good PA museums in Steamtown and Strasburg (also home of Schwalm's).
