Best New Tire

Those are nice! That's another thing, do I need to buy new tubes and liners or will the ones I have be just fine?

I personally always install new tubes with new tires. I don't want to do the job twice and risk scratches on the wheels. The liners I may replace depending on how dry rotted the tires are coming off.

The good news is, the tubes and liners are not in the sun and likely (except for maybe the valve stems) not degraded. The bad news is, you probably don’t know anything more about them. New, good radial-compatible tubes are available for less than $25 each. I just put new tires on and replaced the tubes, kept the others as spares. Liners were in fine shape, I reused them but could have gone either way.

us cheap guys............

I use duct tape for liners and motorcycle tubes- discussed on a previous thread.

Just a comment on duct tape. It gets pretty nasty and dries out over time. I am not sure it's a great long-term solution for your wheels. I'd rather spend a little more and get a proper liner. Just my opinion and ymmv.

The liner, or rim strip, is made for real adjustable wire wheels with the spoke ends exposed inside the rim. Our fords have the welded spokes with a smooth rim surface so no need for liners. Use talcum powder ( baby powder) so the tubes can move when filling with air, and wont stick to the rim. I've put lots of miles on A's with no liners, over 30k on my 31 coupe alone, never seen a tube with a problem at the rim surface.

Hello, somewhat getting back to original post, what are the best tire for 4.75x 19. ? The Goodyears in that size ? Tires that ride and preform well , regardless of price. Thank you.

Goodyears, hands down for quality, appearance and ride. You get what you pay for.

I have had Goodyears 19" on my coupe for 10 years and 10000 miles.

The treads have hardly any wear and the rubber is still soft and pliable with no cracks in the rubber..They ride really well and look good.
The white walls are still bright white. As previous posters have said , they cost more but are worth it in the long run. Mark.
