39 1 ton hood hinge question

The 38 I had, had 2 locking hood hinges. Did the 39 only come with 1? You can see from the photo I have a stress crack on the hood from it not being supported as well on the other side. If they only came with one, would it be possible to install one from another model year?

My 39 has 2. Looks like your support bracket is missing. So I went out and looked at mine and the right side support bracket is not factory and has been brazed in place. So it looks like my right side was added and not factory

Per my parts books, ONE ratcheting type prop was used 1937-1938 cars, and 1938-39 pickups and trucks. Open it and let down, the hood is held up. Open again until it clicks then you can lower the hood. If it sticks or you forget and pull down before it releases you kink your hood. The spring type props were used on 1939 passenger with RH and LH. Not to say someone changed to the later style (or Ford did in late production, though the parts books dont show that).

Karl Wescott has it. Ford used that single horrible ratchet one one side in 37-38 that is guaranteed to break your hood. In 39 on standard cars and trucks Ford used a spring, still only on the left side as viewed from the driver's seat.

I guess I got the leftovers then as the 39 I have has the ratcheting style. Hence the reason when looking for a replacement 39, they all have springs. For some reason I was thinking the 38 I have had two of them but in looking yesterday, it only has one on the drivers side as well.

I don't mind the ratcheting support, but don't want to keep putting stress on the area of the hood that is already fractured. I'm assuming the 39 supports would work as replacements.
