Milwaukee Ford Plant

HI;

Does anyone know as to what was going one in that plant after the Government took it over in July of 1942, As I know a few things as to what they were doing in that plant but I need documented proof of what they were doing in that plant so I can put it in my book.

As I know about the gliders but that's about it as I don't have any proof of that happening in that plant, as I need a newspaper articale that says that is what they were doing in that plant and what ever else they were doing in that plant.

As I know the assembly line was still going in that plant and that they were building some kind of cars or trucks in that plant, but I don't have the proof of that either and I need the proof of that also.

Just like anything else that they were building or making in that plant when the Government owned the building, but I would like to have two forms of proof that they did what ever it was that they did in that plant.

All the way up to them selling the building to the State of Wisconsin but I don't know as to what month or year, of that was sold and what did they do with the building after they bought it as I need the proof of that also.

If someone knows that stuff please get a hold of me asap Thanks Reggiedog.

It looks like the upper floors are apartment with ground level storefronts now. Not seen in street view are the braces that have been added to the exterior. Breaks the lines and makes it quite ugly now.

I haven't seen a picture of it from today I have just seen pictures of it when Ford owned that building and nothing past that, but I did know that today there are apartments in the white building behind it and NOT in the Ford building, as I have had a researcher go in that building and he took pictures of every floor and I also have a map of the interior of that building.

And there is no apartments in the Ford building just the White building behind it as in the upper floors of the Ford building is the Peck school and they have all of the upper floors for the school other then the second floor, that is a parking ramp as to how many cars can fit in there I don't know that one but you as far as apartments being in the Ford building there isn't any there.

And I have talked to the guy that helped design those building for the Collage and I think he would know as to what was in the old Ford building and even he said there was no apartments in that building just the White building for upper classmen and there family's, as most of them are married as that is what I was told by the designers of both of those buildings so the Ford building having apartments in that building is wrong that I do know for sure.

And I have seen pictures of the inside of the old Ford building and there is no apartments in that building as the researcher that I had hired went in that building and took pictures of the inside for me, and I have the pictures of it today and it's all the Peck School that's in the upper floors of that building minus the second floor.

I've only seen it from the ground, so I assumed apartments given some of the other buildings around it. The braces are very new, probably put up this past year. I certainly hope they were installed for structural purposes, because if they did it for decoration, they really missed the mark. Here's a picture I found on the internet. It's all up now. https://res.cloudinary.com/spothero/image/upload/w_4032,h_3024,q_50,x_2016,y_1512,c_fill,g_xy_center,f_auto/c_scale,fl_relative,g_south_east,l_logos:spothero,o_27,w_0.25,x_0.05,y_0.05/v1659042050/yhxg6sdytfrkm3vwnxcr.jpg

Here's what I need I need as to what the Government was doing in the old Ford Plant building as I don't need what is in there today, as I know the UWM owns the building today and will own it for years to come and probably for ever.

As I have said I need what the GOVERNMENT was doing in that building during the war time and after until they sold the building to the State Of Wisconsin, and the State gave the building to the UWM that I do know that's a true statement.

But I need to know what was going on in that building from like 1942 to 1946 those are the years that I need to find out what was going on in that building as to what they were building or making in there, as I know that the Government was making some type of car or truck or something in that plant as they were using the assembly line in that plant that I do know but they were also doing other things in that plant but what is the thing that I don't know and would love to find out.

So if anyone know as to what was all going on in that old Milwaukee Ford Plant please let me know ASAP. Thanks Reggiedog

This was all I could find.

This link is of wartime goods that Ford manufactured under contract. I couldn't find anything about the Minneapolis plant.

Wrong city. the Twin Cities has three different plants over time.
Check your PM for Milwaukee. A.O. Smith leased that plant to build war time products. Probably Jeep parts, propellers, or aircraft undercarriages & parts but it's hard to say.

Check the local obits after the war. You'll probably come across Joe built XXX at the Ford plant during the war.
The Ford Pico Rivera plant is where they built the B2 stealth bomber parts. Worst kept secret. Northrop would truck the parts from there to their Hawthorne plant and then after awhile take them to Palmdale to assemble them. Today it's a shopping center.

A. O. Smith made stuff for the Manhattan project too but I have no idea what they made or where it was made. They were a specialty manufacture before the war. They made bomb casings for WWI so they did it for WWII as well.
