1929 Phaeton

"RHD and driving on the RHS, now THAT is nutz!"

You get in and out on the footpath (sidewalk?).

Didn't a lot of our early cars (chassis importing and local body building was a big thing promoted by the govt.) have no drivers side door? A safety thing so you don't step out into the traffic.

Yes but we still sat on the RIGHT side of the car. The driver just had to scramble across the front seat and get his legs over or around the gear lever and handbrake. Awkward.

The blue gray colonial grain faux leather was standard. This example was not authentic but it came closer than some. A person can see the puckers in the corners of the lower cushion but the vinyl is thicker then the old pyroxylin book cloth that Ford used back then so they don't stand out as much. The cotton padding is a bit thin. A person can see the coils in the rear seat back cover.

I purchased my Consew 206 machine from an furniture manufacturer that went out of business. I'll never regret that purchase.

I brought this back up by mistake for another thread to illustrate a relatively stock 1929 Phaeton,

I was loaned a right hand drive vehicle with standard transmission and found once you sit on the right side everything becomes second nature. Don't let RHD stand in your way.
This car will put smiles on LH drivers faces, and will initiate many memorable conversations. There will be no regrets.
Good luck with the auction!

When the top is folded down in those photos, it does not look like the top irons are quite as close together as they should be. The folded top assembly sits quite high.

What do you all think?

This photo from the Ford archives is of a ‘30 phaeton, but the top works in a similar way.

(Photo caption says "deluxe" phaeton but this is an obvious error.)
