Finally satisfying a strong "T" desire

I've wanted a "T" for many years. Now because of divorce I've lost my completely restored award winning '38 Ford pickup. So last night I went out and put some money down on a "T" touring car. Though it's titled as a 1917, old documentation seems to say it's a 1922. The serial number on the engine says it's a 1922. However I can't be sure it hasn't had a motor exchange done. So is there a definitive way to determine what year it is? Also the car doesn't have a top on it. Is there a supplier of a complete top for this car without having to determine what it needs piece by piece or do I have to purchase the parts individually. Thanks -Mike

Mike,

Congratulations on buying a T!

If you go to MTFCA & click on Model T Encyclopedia you will find the evolution of most major parts of the T. From that you should be able to determine what your car mostly is.

The top likely is a 2 man top but the one man top came into production in September 22 so the first step is to know what to look for. If the car has top irons on the front seat it takes the 2 man top. If you are lucky you may find a complete bow & socket assembly & then install a new fabric kit. A used complete functional top is rarely available without a car attached to it.

Mike,

Welcome to the world of Model T's. Fair warning, they are addictive! Are you needing top bows or just a top kit? Classtique Upholstery in Ham Lake or is it Isanti; I don't recall, has the best upholstery kits around. Elizabeth has top notch service and she does wonderful work. Check her out at: http://classtique.info/
Contact me at my info below, I am near St Cloud and stock new and used parts for Model T's.

Thanks Andy, I'll try to get in touch with you after this next week. I'm in the process of moving to a place called Rockwood Estates in Rice and with this being the holiday weekend I'm going to have my hands full.
