Luggage rack bolts

Maybe they are the same as for the 1932 rack as follows. The bracket bolts to the spreader bar with 7/16-20 hex bolts. The rack pivots on the bracket with 3/8-24 hex bolts with a cap nut. The slider bar bolts to the rack with 3/8-24 hex bolts with a cap nut. The slider bar also bolts to the spreader bracket with a 7/16-20 carriage bolt with a chrome thumb nut. Hope this is helpful. Jake

Robert,

Which ones are you seeking? You can use the reference in the '32 book (pages A-12-23 and A-12-24 for the stainless steel molding attachments, side braces, and sliding bolt and nut. There's no cross bar like a '32; the main brackets attach to the ends of the chassis frame rails unless it is the Canadian version where the main brackets are shorter and attach to the inside of the rear bumper brackets thereby permitting the installation of a luggage rack with a rear-mounted spare wheel and tire.

I obtained stainless fasteners from McMaster Carr. If the attachment of the brackets to the rack are the same as for the 1932, then the 3/8-24 hex bolts are used at this attachment. If there is a support bar that allows the rack to raise and lower, I used the 7/16-14 carriage bolt with a 7/16 knurled nut from McMaster Carr. They did not offer a 7/16-20 in the carriage bolt or knurled nut. I attached the other end of the support bar to the rack with the 3/8-24 hex bolt. The bolt was inserted from the inside of the rack and the cap nut is on the outside. All are stainless. I will gladly send you photos and copies of the pages from the 1932 book if you need them. I could not locate any details in the 1933-34 book. Jake

The thumb nuts as mentioned are 7/16-20 we sell them for a different purpose for the bumper ends.

Robert,

Except for the attachment of the main brackets to the chassis frame rails, none of the original rack fasteners were true 'standard' fasteners as all of the bolts had thin wide convex heads or reduced size heads on the carriage bolts. See page 19-12 in the book.
