I don't know how many times I have explained to members of the public as they marvel that a car could be so old yet still going that these cars have luckily survived that point in their existence where they were worth nothing. If they get through that, hey become interesting again and their chances of long term survival sky rockets..
I'd love to have again some of the cars I used to have but I guess we can all say that.

if we only knew..........

Micky Mantle card sold last week for 12.5 million............

fella bought it 20 plus yrs ago for 50k

isnt that how life works? we always look back.

Buy low sell high, that’s what I’ve been told. As for cars I still have my first car! Late 31 Tudor, was hoping looking dreaming for a 32 coupe!

Maybe a street rodded version. Original restored Model A's and EV8's are soft right now.
Which is why I'm looking for a 33-4 Vicky.

Current low selling also doesn't take into account the labor/parts price hikes since the pandemic. When you figure in what restoration costs are today an older restoration is a bigger bargain.

In 1974 I went to work on a property at Guyra NSW. Dad drove to the airstrip to brief me followed by his 2 sons. Each drove an A; all tourers cut to make a ute. I looked over them with envy even jealousy. They explained they were all bought at property clearing sales for generally 10 pound each. They had bought them thinking one day they would be valuable. They were all sheded. Good thinking.
It was also apparent they enjoyed them.

Yes, you can buy a nice car ready to go cheaper than you can properly restore one. Keep in mind in the early V8 world, there is no supplier for authentic interiors.

Seth…you’re absolutely correct..but…always a butt!
You refer to “properly restore”….how does one really know a purchased, restored car is “proper”? Or, even close? Even the astute can be fooled sometimes.

You can never be completely sure. That's why I prefer to build my own engines, transmissions and rearends.
