So I saw an item on here who someone was selling that I was interested in. When I attempted to send them a message about purchasing it, I was informed that I needed to have 9 posts before I would be allowed to send messages. Is there another way around this policy?

Well just make a few posts. Answer this a few times. I think you might need 10 actually.

Are the parts for an old Ford? Tell us what you have.

Just to be clear, new members are required to have at least TEN (10) posts before being allowed the privilege of using the PRIVATE MESSAGE system. No big deal. Like said above, just get busy answering a few more existing posts, or tell us briefly about your cars .... ONE POST for each car. Or tell us how old you are. Just be creative and get'r done!

V8COOPMAN, thanks for the response. This is relatively new to me on here so I appreciate your feedback. I have found this site to be very helpful with all the knowledge and experience folks share.

mmumley ...... Like "Mart" says in post #7 above, you now have ten posts and should be good to go on sending PMs. Unfortunately, these types of forums have more than one nemesis. They can be so valuable for one or many, if those using a particular thread would just think about the information they include in a post, or the information they DIDN'T INCLUDE in a post, not to mention dis-information that people throw around. The main reason I jumped into this thread was because of the confusion (for you) when someone throws-out "nine posts" required to be able to reply to PMs. WHY? If ya don't have correct answers, DON'T REPLY!

As a 'seasoned group' that's been on a forum for a while, most of us know the ropes, or are familiar with some particular information sources, whereas the new guys may not have a clue with regard to some of the answers being thrown-around. For instance, if someone suggests that Michael Driskell is a great parts source, the newbie or uninformed person would likely think: "Who the hell is Michael Driskell, and how do I find him?" The person suggesting Michael Driskell should either leave a link to Michael's info, or explain how to get in touch with Michael, like one of the choices seen BELOW!

3rd Gen Automotive - Contact

Michael Driskell (Ask for Michael on phone)

Third Gen Automotive
Phone: 844-327-5988
Url: thirdgenauto.com

And it just so happens that 3rd Gen IS one of the PREMIER parts (and advice) sources going anywhere in the old Ford parts world.

But there are two sides to these forums. You, the original poster (OP), would do well to get back with us folks that tried to help you with your original question. Let us know how the subject of your question worked out in the end. For instance, now that you have 10+ posts, were you able to PM the guy with your parts? Welcome to The 'Barn!

As a newbie, mmumley may not be aware of the scammers that cruise the "parts wanted" sections of all the automotive sites. Be careful, make sure you can pay with Paypal (not "friends and family" as there is no protection using that method). Good luck and welcome to this forum.
