Working out some electrical issues, for which I could not yet find answers. The car came to me thusly:
My questions are as follows:
cover removed from the cut-out; the relay seemingly did not work; the headlight and horn wires were removed from the cut-out and taped off; the tail-light did not work; the ammeter was pegged at zero; only the dome light worked
I have replaced the cut-out with a solid-state unit, having hooked up the headlight and horn wires, both now work, but the ammeter only shows a drain when lights are on or horn is sounded. It does not budge to the right of "zero."
My questions are as follows:
1. If the ammeter shows a drain but not a charge, do I suspect the ammeter or the generator?
2. The horn sounds when I move the light switch in either direction. Do I look for a bad horn button, short in the horn rod wire, or both?
3. The headlights are two-bulb. My understanding is that cars with cowl lights (such as this one) only have one-bulb headlights. Is this correct?
Thanks in advance, and sorry for all of the questions at once.2. The horn sounds when I move the light switch in either direction. Do I look for a bad horn button, short in the horn rod wire, or both?
