1941 Canadian colours (Spot the U!)

Hi folks,

I have a chance to pick up a Canadian production 1941 Deluxe Coupe and I'm trying to find out the colour options. A web search turns up the US colours, none of which match this particular car. If it's been re-sprayed they did a heck of a job in reaching all the interior parts and so on, so I'm wondering if it might be original.

So, I'd love to hear if folks know anything about Canadian colour and model variations in 1941?

Many thanks,

Ralf

Thanks very much covette8n. I had checked out that site and I don't see one too much like it. It's basically a bright electric blue:

Seems awfully bright fro the early 40s?

The above BLUE color is definitely not a 1940's Ford car color, thank goodness.

That BLUE color is just too loud. Look behind the windlace, door rubber, and under the dash for traces.

Thanks, that was very much my thought. In addition, it's badged deluxe but has the simple linear dash without the clock and plastic trim. I'm finding it hard to find a picture of an original Canadian '41 Deluxe. Sorry for the nooby question, but is there any definitive way to be sure about the original trim level?

In addition, the motor has a bolted on bell housing, which should not be correct for '41?

I have some experience with Canada vs. US variations, but unfortunately not on this era of Ford, so any pointers would be very much appreciated!

Thanks,

Ralf

From your description, sounds like you have a later (49-53) engine.

Thank you, yes, that's what I was thinking. Working through all this stuff to see if I can get collectors' plates in BC. Not looking good!

Ralf

Can you post pictures of the areas in question?
Regarding collector's plates, why would your car be excluded from using them? The 8BA family of engines is a bolt in that most people will not tell from factory. It definitely will not be so powerful that your suspension, brakes, steering, etc. are degraded.

Hi 38 Coupe,

In BC cars on collectors plates need to have nothing significant that wasn't available within two years of the car's manufacture date (if you see what I mean). The engine is less of a problem, but the colour is. The car has to be painted a colour it could have been in 1941, so bright blue is not helpful! The interior is also a non-original colour. Otherwise, the car is incredibly complete.

Here's a couple of pics, just for fun.
