Attached is the link to a recent discussion about a transmission leaking too much into the clamshell area. Make sure your slinger is positioned correctly.
Update: got the motor/trans unbolted from torque tube and slide it forward and up so I can access Ujoint and rear of trans housing. No leaking fluid found from countershaft or reverse idle shaft or lock pin on the back of case but I am going to degrease it good so I can seal them up good.
I did find that the JD cornhead grease seemed to be seeping out between the Ujoint casings as well as the rear engine mount/bearing retainer plate/large washer assembly. I may have pumped too much grease via zerk fitting into Ujoint case and it pushed grease all the way into the rear bearing.
What is the recommendation for sealing up the gaskets for the Ujoint case half’s?
I’m not using ultra black rtv again. I read on another post to use HD grease on 2-3 paper gaskets. I am planning to use 3m black weatherstripping glue on the ends of the shafts and lock pin on the trans case.
On the "recent" rebuild of your transmission, were you able to use the original Ford two lower shafts? The aftermarket ones are a bit under in size, and not as hard.
