Is there a way to remove these plugs from 1950 mercury kingpins without damaging them? I have been unable to find a source for new welch plugs. The only thing for sale is the king pin repair set.

Have you tried an old time-long in business-parts store with old guys behind the counter? Just give them the diameter of the plug and they should walk right to the proper drawer. Avoid the kid that heads to a computer and asks something like does the car have a heater? A radio? And other non-pertinent details!

Looks like the part number is 74121-S 1 1/4" expansion plug.

Drill it in the center tap for a zerk insert zerk an pump in grease to force the plug out.
