Finally, I found the secrets to removing the parcel shelf and now have the old headliner out. But...

Under the headliner, in places, is/was a puffy insulation like padding, 1-2: thick, no longer of a piece in places. I pulled out handfuls of it. Now I'm looking for a replacements that doesn't scream restoration.

Does anyone have an opinion on Rockwool?

Thank you

Picture #1 is what the mice have done. Plain and simple, that's mouse damage.
The insulation paper was available from Drake. He calls it "Waffle insulation" or something similar to that.

I use the air pockets insulation that is layered between foil in all places never to be seen again, IE roof, inside doors and quarter panels.

It's readily available at any home improvement store, reasonably priced, adheres easily to metal and in my opinion is superior in noise reduction vs. the authentic tar paper.
