heater cable routing

Hello,

I am going to install the heater shut off valve in the engine comp. as the vacuum valve was sealed up. How did you route the cable out through the firewall to turn it on and off? I have an idea but am looking for additional ideas.

.
Route the cable thru the same hole in the firewall as the power wires to the heater fan motor???

Tried, won’t fit. There is a small hole to the right of the core box where one of the insulation holder goes that I think I can use. Concours parts can make up a longer cable-cool! So now I am down to trying to find something to make a gentle curve for the cable to follow.

Don't know what car this is for, but on a '55/56 Ford see the photo below:
See that big rectangular hole in the firewall where the heater plenum goes thru?
There is a small oval shaped hole above the corner of the rectangular hole on the fender side. That hole is for wires to heater blower motor and water valve control cable.

In the other thread that smtichy mentioned, the user drilled a new hole in the punch-out plate for the factory optional mechanical heater valve (which is not used with the vacuum type heater valve).
No matter which system your Ford has, the cable or vacuum line can go thru the smaller hole near the passenger side fender just above the corner of the big rectangular heater plenum. That is where the factory routed them along with the red and orange wires for the heater blower motor. Plenty of room for them, since hole is oval shaped.
If you click your mouse on the photo I gave, it will pop up bigger in a new window and you can see that smaller hole better.
