Centering brake shoes to brake drum. HOW? If for example on back brake shoes are too high in the brake drum will this work or not ( I don't think so)?
I have not been able to adjust my back brakes. After I adjust the brakes and when they start to drag, they will not work, it is not until I adjust them tighter and dragging a lot will they start to work! This is all wrong I know.

The rear shoes are not centered to the drum. They are centered using the axle housing as a base for centering tool. Place your centering tool on the axle housing and center the shoes from the housing out to the circumference of the brake shoe lining.

Center the shoes as Dick M said. You will have to modify the track that the roller pins ride on, either by building them up with weld and/or filing them down.

If you are not getting any braking action at the rear wheels when they are adjusted for light drag, look for another problem. I worked on a friend's car where the rod from the brake pedal to the center shaft was hitting the frame and causing the brakes not to work. Have someone push on the brake pedal and look for any interference or other problem.
