Not sure this is the right place to ask but what would you say that this 49 Ford tudor is worth? It has flathead 6 and it runs. Thanks

One thing your '49 has going for it, is that it's a 2 dr. Ford.
It is still worth more with a V/8 flathead to the average buyer.
I can't see the body condition very well, but I can see that
the interior is pretty ratty.
If it runs, drives and stops, i would guess value to be about $12-$1500

Put it in the Classifieds here (with your location) and price of $1500
and see if you get any offers. ;);););)

I don't own the car just looking to buy it. The owner has put a price of $5000 on the car and I am trying to decide if it is even worth going to look at it. Its about 150 miles away and I am afraid that someone looking to get that out of the car is not going to be excited to hear an offer of $1500

Whoever owns it has been watching too much Barret-Jackson. The car has a lot going against it : six cylinder, TWO DOOR sedan (not a coupe), the interior is toast, and it's a '49. A lot of people like the styling, but the quality sucked that year. Remember " Fifty Ford, better in fifty ways"? If the body is good rust-wise and it runs and drives good, maybe something close to $5000, but it's still a stretch.

$5000 is definitely out of line for price. That will sit in the guy's driveway forever at $5000.

Shoebox Fords can have serious rust issues. Check around all wheel wells especially behind the tires. Check interior floors and trunk floors. The rust in the windshield area indicates it may have leaked over time and caused the floors to rust.

The rocker panels, from underneath and from outside.

I agree with previous statements about price.
I wouldn't worry about making and offer if it's what you want, all they can do is say no.

Do not overpay because there is nothing cheap about replacing the interior or metal and body work. Even if it's just to get the car up to a driver status. If you replaced the interior with something that is remotely authentic it will cost $5-6,000. You should be able to find a good driver '49 Tudor for $10,000 - $15,000

Babyboomerboy: That car is not a coupe. It is a 2 door sedan with a 6 cyl. engine that really reduces its desireability. Buy a 1950 2 door coupe that has the flathead V8 and has already been restored. IT WILL BE LESS EXPENSIVE IN THE LONG RUN. The photos you posted show that Ford will easily turn into a money pit, especially if the frame and undercarraige , A pillars, B pillars, floor suspension and gas tank are rusted away. You can be sure that major and expensive repairs are needed. That's why its for sale. It may even be a "BONDO SPECIAL" right now. You will regret buying it.

If you buy a car in that condition it only gets worse once you remove panels and find even more issues. That car is not desirable and is too far gone to restore unless you have tons of $$ , patience and talent. YOU WILL REGRET BUYING IT. I like 49-51 Fords but, I wouldn't take it even if it was free. BUY ONE DONE.

One last thought: Don't ever buy a car unless you see it in person during the daytime and test drive it. Nice also to have some one with you who "knows 49-51 Fords.

Unless you want a restoration project in which case the price needs to reflect that. Major rust areas: inner and out rocker panels, front/rear floors, floor braces, fender bottoms, lower quarter panels, panel below the trunk lid viewer from the rear, trunk floor, bottom of hinge posts, little triangle area between grill and headlights. Many are/were reproduced but it is a big job to put them in! Ken

Just because the owner made a bad purchase and has given up on the project doesn't mean it's worth more now. I would avoid. JMO
