Gas Formulas These days

The gas formulas these days seem to break down easier. I'd say the last 3 years or so especially.

I have a B carb on my A. That little plug in the bottom of the bowl - has anyone ever taken that out and put a little ball valve in there? I was thinking about something similar to the valve on the bottom of the gas tank, or the lower water pipe. Sure you can shut off the fuel and run the engine till it dies, but I doubt that gets it all out of those jet chambers. Let's face it, that's where hard gas causes the problems.

Anyone ever try this? 2 of the last 3 years come spring I had to drop the bottom half of the carb, punch a wire through the jets, and blow them out with a rubber tipped air gun.

Use a fuel stabilizer - or find some gas that doesn't have ethanol - and still use the stabilizer.

I'm 88 years old and my Model A's and T's are kept in a rural area 95 miles from my home so they aren't often driven. For years there was no E-free gas available in my area so I often had to drain the float bowls to get them started. I did use fuel stabilizer then. Some years ago they began offering E-free gas at a Buc'ees station about half way between my two residences. Now I buy my gas for them there and have several large gas cans to carry it with. I no longer need to drain the float bowls.

I learned to run the carb out of gas, as it just starts to sputter I add choke more and more to make up for the lowering fuel level in the bowl, since I have been doing it that way no more gook clogging the tips of the jets
