I am in the process of a 2gc carb conversion for my ‘51 Merc engine. I have the manifold and carb and I have some questions.

The manifold has the choke heat tube running through it. What is the neatest way of providing filtered air for the intake side?
Is a rubber tube sufficient for the outlet to the choke?
The carb has a Venturi vacuum port. Does the Loadomatic distributor need a metered rise of vacuum that might be different with this carb?
Oh and why silver instead of the Mercury green? It was only available in $42 quarts.
