Would someone know if this shock is original or maybe an aftermarket? There is no filler plug.
Also,The arm is 7 inches from center of ball ot center of attaching eye, with approximately 1 inch ofset to clear mounting bolt.

The cast housing is the same as an original, but the originals had a filler plug. Further, being a manually adjustable shock it is post-'34 The arm is a '33 rear.

Thank you DavidG, I have this mounted on the drivers side and the slot for the arm to the rear which aims the 7 inch arm forward. All seems to fit fine once the link is added. If I've done this wrong let me know, just learning. Now I need one for the passenger side.
Thanks again, Terry

If you want to keep it original (sort of original, given the lack of a filler plug), you would need to replace the arm and the link connect the arm to the ball stud on the rear axle housing with '34 components. The original '34 rear arms are shown in the photo below. You will note that the ball end of the arm will point in the opposite direction as the ball on the '33 arm does when installed, hence the need to replace the link between the arm and the rear axle housing. If originality isn't that important to you, you will likely need to find another '33 rear arm for the other side of the chassis.

The links I have or the 'dog bone' are at 180 opposite sockets. Really concerned with function rather than originality at this point. The length of the arm, 7" on center are my main concern plus a missing shock.
Thanks Terry

You can place a wanted ad for the needed '33 arm herein. For some reason, rear '33 shock arms are scarcer than the shorter front counterpart, but they turn up from time to time.

The rear arm for the 34 shock, as shown above, is 7" C/L to C/L and the shock links connect on the same side. Why not look for the correct arms for 34, As shown above the part number is usually embossed on the side 40-13052-B Use the proper links and the 35 and 36 rear shocks will also work on the 34.

Thanks for the info. I had know idea what years would work. I will update my add on the swap page.
Thanks Terry

Andrew Falandes rebuilds those as well as the shocks that mount outside the chassis frame. (andyshox@gmail.com)
