Trying to help out a buddy with electrical problem. On a 54 Mercury , where would the electrical feed to the dash heater blower switch originate from ? On my 55 Ford , the hot wire leading to the blower switch has a fuse in line and originates on the ignition access pole. Would that be the same for Mercury ?
Don't have a Mercury shop manual to check this out , maybe somebody does and can let us know please.

I would think so.

That is correct. But regardless of where the factory originally had it fed from, it wouldn't make sense to have that circuit originate from the BATT terminal of the ignition switch, because then you could turn the engine off without realizing the heater blower motor was still energized if the switch is on. You could wire it off the COIL terminal of the ignition switch, that way it would shut off when you turned the engine off.
ACC terminal is energized whenever the key is turned on and if the key is turned to ACC with engine off.
COIL terminal is only energized while engine is running.
BATT terminal is always energized unless the car battery is unhooked.
