Lights turn off when I turn the steering wheel

Synchro, Is the switch handle turning with the steering wheel or is it staying in the on position? If the switch handle is turning with the steering wheel, it is probably due to the brass washer missing on the switch rod or it just being worn out.

The handle is turning with the wheel. Is the brass washer you mention located directly under the handle? This steering column hasn't done all that much since being rebuilt. BTW, it is a 7 tooth steering box.

My switch rod in my coupe wasn't round at the top, so I did the work of pulling the starter, lower radiator pipe, steering box, and column and filed the bumps down and replaced the bushing.

Thanks guys. I'll take it out and check that bush though I can't see it being tight. I have done about 15,000 miles in the car since I did the steering up but I'll only find out by taking it apart.

For one reason or another, the rods can get bent over time. This may become apparent when the rod is removed to investigate the probables. Most problems can be repaired.
