Need Stromberg 81 Bowl for display engine

1952henry: I am almost totally ignorant on carbs. So if I'm wrong on the 81, and it should be a Holley "94", how does the 91-99 come into play? I have a 91-99 in my stash. I sold a 94 a little while back, before I got involved in this project. Just Damn. Lawson.

I have a 81 bowl but the inlet threads are stripped. I would be willing to trade for a usable 81 bowl. Plush cash. Is there a fix for the stripped threads?

Thanks,

jim

It doesn't. I was just using that model to point out the use of Holley carbs in 1939, and most likely back into late 38. If the v860 got Holleys in 1939, it would be the aforementioned Model 92, no 91-99 markings on this

No. There is a over size thread needle and seat available. Had one on a 97 many yrs ago.Sold some French 81's and dropped shipped them to Max.One had stripped threads on the bowl for the needle and seat.He fixed it.

As it so often happens a guardian angel steps in and makes things right....in this three
angels....well......
anyway
Kube points out diplomatically that LC's project needs the Holley 92...Sal Cicala has
a super nice 92 he acquired real right and made LC a deal he could not refuse. Prior
this Max steps up and provides a Stromberg 81 bowl for inexpensive. Where else
but the Barn.

Charlie, I have had several Guardian Angels on this project, and you my friend are one of them, with massive snow white wings.

I'll withhold names at this point but here are some of the items donated by "Barners" : Correct aluminum heads, correct rear bearing retainer, correct brown coil, brown distributor caps, correct fuel pump, correct carburetor, a multitude of correct original 60HP nuts, bolts and washers. Correct, polished, engine water pet *****. A real nice, full set, of Champion H10 "coke bottle" spark plugs.

Thank You Lord for all of those who have contributed parts and advice. I've still got my fingers crossed for spark plug wires and correct intake manifold bolts. I would also like to find a correctly formed fuel pump to carburetor fuel line and nice looking intake manifold wiper and distributor vacuum "fittings". The ones on this engine were really mangled.

I would also like to give a special shout out to my Grandson-in-Law who took me to Tennessee to pick up this nice old 0ld 60HP engine and who comes over to help me manhandle it from time to time; and to Nate Fluke, the curator of the Early V8 Ford Museum who has provided me with many photos of 60HP engines and engine stands on display there.

Thanks everyone. You have helped provide this old man with many hours of flathead fun.
