My first tow! Starter not cooperative

My starter won't activate. It does a single click when I step on it which sounds like the electric connection, not the starter. Bendix appears to be engaged as rocking doesn't move the car. Car moves in nuetral obviously. Starter fuse isn't blown, power to everything is fine. I assume I'm taking off the starter and looking at ring gear teeth/bendix?

Common type of trouble when the bendix hangs up in the ring gear. I used to have that trouble and it would free up by pushing/rocking it in 4th but pushing the car towards reverse to make the enging turn backwards.

Turns out is was a partial ID 10T error. Removing the starter solved the problem, but my inability to rock it in gear was due to my Mitchel Overdrive cable shifter not being entirely in gear.

Check the starter and bendix out! MHO trying to start the A with the timing/ advance lever down cause/helps in the stuck bendix problem.
