35 Wires on 36 Spindle?

I purchased this homemade tractor at a show this past weekend. It looks like the builder welded steelies to a '36 hub. From what I gather the axle is a narrowed 36. I'd like to put spokes on the front to match the rear. Will a 35 drum fit the 36 spindle so I can use 35 16" spokes?

TIA ...

Definitely looks like 36 spindles! I checked out the thread tubman posted and it looks like the only difference is the 1/4" length and they said the 36 nut is 1/4 thinner than the 35. I may be able to just run the 35 drums with a 36 nut then I can put on the 16" spokes.

Not like I am driving it on the road or anything over 5MPH anyway so even if it is a little Janky ... not a big deal! :p

If you had your general location in your avatar, perhaps someone close by would have some worn out 32-35 drums for you. worn out, they are worth nothing except for a use like yours

OK, here is what I need if anyone has them within 100 miles of SW Michigan or will ship:

2 - 1932-34 front drums - prefer out-of-spec to save money since will not be running brakes
2 - 1935 16" wire wheels - I see lots of sets of 4/5 but don't want to waste the rest

any 32-35 drum will fit your spindles. 35's are 1/4" wider shoe width. if you are fussy get a pair of 32-34, or a pair of 35's. 16" wires are 35 model year, 36 is the wide 5. any 18" 32 wires, or 33-34 17" wires will also fit any of those hubs

Good info! I want as thin as possible so will update my post. Likewise on the wheels ... typo. I specifically want the 16" because of height after tire is mounted. I need to keep the diameter as small as possible to keep the tractor level.

Yes, and with 16" wheels you could get a pair of those cool ribbed tires for a 8 or 9n ford

Those are pretty tall! I hate to say it but I found a Continental temporary spare that is 16" for a 4" rim and low profile. Gets me to the perfect height to level the frame!
