'54 Ranch Wagon safety hood latch spring

The spring on the safety hood latch on my Ranch Wagon is apparently broken. I can find a replacement spring for a '48-'50 truck but not for a '54 Ranch Wagon. Anyone have either a source for a correct spring or idea if the truck spring can be modified to work? Or bend up a new spring from scratch?

Haven't hit the yards yet. I'm betting but not positive the latch is the same for the passenger car. The latch I have just needs a spring so I'm going to make one work from a spring available on line for a different vehicle or try to make one from scratch. If that doesn't work then its look for a complete used assembly.

Thanks. 2 listings actually. One for 1 spring at $192.00 and the other for a box of 25 for $130.00


I guess they are made out of gold. I'll continue the search for those prices but thanks for letting me know. At least I now have the part number.


I guess I should have kept looking for it on Ebay. Found a single one NOS for less than 20 bucks shipped. Its on the way. Thanks KULTULZ:):cool:
