Anybody have experience with the Excelsior line sold by Coker?
450/475-21 listed in the catalogue @ $108.00 each
Just wondering if you get a decent tire for that.

My father always said : "you get what you pay for".

Well, for $108, or even $70 for Universals, you may well get a very serviceable tire for a driver that might not help you on the show-field, if you're after points.

These tires all have to meet DOT standards to be sold in the US, don't they ?

( I'm curious about this too, as the ancient All-State WWW on my '28 aren't going to last much longer, and I'm looking for a cost-effective replacement...)

My last set of Universals lasted only a few thousand miles before the tread literally evaporated. And that was on all four wheels, not just the fronts, so I couldn't blame the alignment. This time I sprung for a fat set of Firestones......

If price is the major concern and you desire whitewalls, check out th Lucus tire which they are advertising for $65. I know osme who have purchased these for their drivers and are happy. It's nylon so expect a bit of a flat spot after sitting a while. It rounds out after a bit of driving.

Serviceable for around town perhaps. I had a set of universals, and they rode like they were square. I had a set of some other off brand that I can't recall and they could not be balanced without huge weights. Tires and brakes are more important than paint and chrome. I think it is wise to have high quality where safety is concerned.

While price is always a concern, value is what I am after. I don't need WWalls on the car, I have a set on the Harley giving me enough elbow work outs. Lots of tires out there, and just doing a little research on which will give the best value for my driver.
So if anyone has any real life experience with the Economy tires I would like to know how they faired.
Cheers

I have a set of Excelsiors on my T modified and have not had any issues yet, I've only put about 3000 miles on them so far, but my car is only 1560lbs
