I have a 1935 Ford truck with a cowl vent that does not stay open. It does open and close all the way but will not stay in any open position. My question, am I missing parts? I looked under the dash and saw that there are no springs but it looks like there is a spot for one? and are there supposed to be any type of latches to maybe open the vent part way? Any information on how thje cowl vent operates would be appreciated.

thasnks jeff

It must not look like this underneath this one is scary tight. If you need another picture ask and I will put new batteries in.......

Yes, how about sending them to me in high resolution if possible. Good shots for the book. You are making me have to take a closer look at mine. LOL Mine works pretty well but it does not seem to catch the detents very well. Maybe my spring is weak/gone. lacoxii@bellsouth.net.

I got the pictures. They are great. I will definitely use them in the book Now I need to look at mine more closely to see why it doesn't "lock" in the detents as firmly as I figure it should.

What's this about the heater switch? I didn't see one.

If you look under the dash I think its kind of like looking under a skirt; a real pain in the neck ;) There is a hole I pluged and the heater switch is no longer there and the heater is gone as well.......
