There is no rubber under the 40 dash. However, at the top of the dash there was a piece of the old style cloth electrical tape folded over the top edge of the dash to prevent squeaking of metal on metal. Then there is there is a piece of specially stitched welting that fits between the top of the dash and is held in place by the bottom edge of the front windshield garnish molding. I believe the correct color of the welting was tan.
The windlace from the top of dash that goes down to the floor is what I am referring to. I'm not sure if the dash has to be removed a little to glue it. But isnt there a rubber tack that goes from underneath dash to the floor to staple windlace to?
Thank you all for clearing that up, great help is appreciated. Sorry I wasnt as clear the 1st time..obviously a 1st timer here!
Ya know, each of us was a "first timer" at some point. Me? There are days (too many in fact) that I feel I am still a "first timer".
Yeah, but you'll never forget that "first time" though, will you? DD

what diameter is the welt cord used to make up the double welting that fits between the dash and the windshield garnish molding? Looks like i'm going to have to sew up my own...
