Leaking carb.

Leaking here as well. Did not drain the bowl for the winter. Cleaning it out then changing the float valve. But leaking past the carb throat as well.
Question? Could it be a non seating needle valve causing the throat leak?

Yes, it could be. The first year I owned and stored my 29 Tudor I lost a full tank of gas over the winter. Both the shutoff valve and needle and seat had a small leak. I polished the valve on my lathe and I used toothpaste to lap the needle and seat, and both have been fine ever since.

Last week friday, it was very warm here and nice, pre-spring. Started the A (2nd time since before t/giving), backed it out of the garage and let it idle to warm up. Noticed something dsripping from u/neath. Lo and behold it was gas from the carb. Then it really started gushing out. Shut the fuel valve, carb drained the line. Pulled the carb apart and thought the float valve had stuck, but no the float had liquid in it. Have new float on order. What I was amazed at was how clean the insides were, everything spotless. Car had 615 miles on it since rebuild in the late 80's, about 2400 now. This is the 1st problem with the fuel system I've had (besides bad float in tank last April). I feel for everybody with the gas tank and rust problems.
