I have a 29 p/u 7 tooth. I am trying to replace the horn rode wire. In the kit I bought the bottom plastic does not fit inside the tube. Any solutions

Word to the wise. When you get your fit issue worked out, easy with the soldering iron. I melted my plastic a bit and really made a production out of an easy job.

I've never used the repro kit, but if it's like I'm thinking, it might be best to tin the 2 parts being soldered first, then slip them together and a quick heat will melt the tinned parts and join them. Have a wet rag or cup of water handy for quick cooling.

Since you have 7 tooth steering, you may have a ’28 shaft tube. A note in the Bratton’s catalog instructs patrons to drill the steering wheel end of the ’28 shaft to 3/8” to accommodate their repro light switch rod. Although they don’t offer the same instruction for their horn wire kit, the same plastic insulator is used in their repro light switch assembly. I'll bet the drill modification may be necessary for your installation too.
