8BA fuel pump pushrod

I searched but could not find, so forgive me if this has even been discussed. Just need to know which end goes down into the block, I assume it's the end with the oil groove about 1/4" from the tip, but of course I want to be sure.

I removed it many years ago, before there were cell phone cameras. Now that I have one, I can't upload the pic for whatever reason....born 40 years too late, I guess.

Thanks for the help!

Aren´t all pumprods 3 pieces pressed togetter...long solid piece-piece of pipe-short solid piece...
Where the long piece goes down into the bushing and the short piece upp at the pump lever...

Figured out the pic upload.

Thanks. That is how this one is constructed. At first I was thinking the short piece should go in block, since it has a groove around it, thinking maybe an oil groove...but your thought made me think the longer solid piece should go in block, since it's stronger. Should I use assembly lube on it, any idea?

Of course it should have lubrication, there are 2 bearing surfaces involved.

The ones I have had were flat on the bottom to run on the cam and the other end for the pump had a small protrusion in the middle.
The bushing in the oil passage has a small hole to lube the pushrod.

Isn't the stain on it towards the left side in the picture where it was in the bushing?
The part that was in the bushing would be UN-STAINED and represents the appox. .200 total movement up and down. The stains either side of that are from crankcase vapor deposits.
