Help with a 32-34 pickup

I recently saved this drag truck from an old closed yard in Arizona.
I was told it is a 31. I am not sure personally. It has been in this condition since the mid to early 60s. I rolled it up on the trailer with a few junk tires just to get it home. I will start to put it back to what it was in the early 60s at some point this Spring. Do to how far from stock it has been taken, the direction we are going is the only practical choice.
I looked at a 31 today that is very different in construction than ours.
Any help to ID this truck would be great.
Thanks in advance for any insight.
John
I also had this listed in the Model A 28-31 section http://www.fordbarn.com/forum/showthread.php?t=29973 and it was suggested that I post it here also.

It is said to be a 33-34. with a shortened model A bed.
As stated in the other thread I am not out to hot rod another stock vehicle just trying to save some history.
Thanks for any help and direction.

Your cab is a 34 with the firewall removed, channeled and the cowl vent cut out, no doubt for an air cleaner, and the bed appears to be a model A. Frame from what shows is a 33/34.

It will buff out.....
Seriously, I have seen worse saved. Looks like a 34. Mine has had to have everything along the lower 6 inches replaced on it along with a lot of patching in other places.I would find another frame for it.You can get replacement beds, that one is an A Model bed.It looks more solid than the one I am trying to rebuild.Mine came from the rust belt of Connecticut so you can imagine how rusty it is.I think you can make a nice truck out of it.You have the main ingredients, everything else can be bought reproduction.

how can one tell if it is 32 or 33 34 :)

The 34 is the easiest to recognize. It has the extra thick rib in the back just above the styling rib that goes around it. A 32 and a 33 look the same but the 32 has a removable firewall whereas the 33 firewall is welded in like a 34.

My '34pu - 'Lil Red' - was a street rod in Calif many years ago. The story was that the SBC caught fire and the rod was destroyed. It was purchased in the 70's and restored in late 80's or early 90's in New York State.
I also found pieces of a '34pu in the 80's - cab frame etc. My wife had a fit over the rusty 'junk' sitting around our house. I started a street rod out of the pieces as there wasn't much to start with. Today, is is valued over $50k but unfortunatly, I don't own it any more.
But . . . with determination, most anything can be returned to a usefull life. Sometimes deep pockets help!

You can do it!

Thanks Pipes ,I still have to do the bottoms of the cab ,It came with no left door,Mad cat has some work to do , these cabs in NZ sell for 4to 6 Grand

Thanks everyone for all the input..
I measured the bed and it has been shortened 11.5".
Where would be a good source for the 2 main rails for a 34 pickup?
The current frame is in poor shape between the rust and scary modifications.
Thanks again for the direction.
