How wide is a 40 coupe deck lid.? I'm thinking of using one to convert my 36 sedan into a coupe and gain a trunk. I need to know how wide at the top. Bottom and how long it is. If anybody has a deck lid they want to part with I would be interested. I know drake makes one but 1300 bucks is hard to swallow. Thanks

The total width of my stock 40 coupe trunk lid measured across the top edge and following the contour of the top edge is 59 3/4 in. The total length measured length down the center of the trunk lid from top to bottom following the contour of the trunk lid is 50 in. Good 40 coupe trunk lids are very hard to find and usually very expensive. 40 convertible trunk lids are even rarer and not the same as a coupe. To save $$$ try using a fiberglass trunk lid. Then use it as a model to make one out of metal using an English wheel. http://www.trucksandroadsters.com/ford/39/gallery_new.html I think it's only the outer lid, but call and make sure. I suggest you contact Bob Drake's and see if they have a new but slightly damaged '40 coupe deck lid at perhaps a much lower price. You might be pleasantly surprised.
