OK first post but a important questions to me.
How many leafs were there in the leaf spring of a 1928 A roadster?
I have 7 bar one right now on a car that I just purchased. I have no suspension to speak of its effectively solid while driving. The whole car is rattling itself to pieces in the rear. I can jump up and down on the back of the car and get ~1/4-1/2 inch deflection. I remember my last A (this was 10 year ago) would settle about 1/2 a inch when I just sat in it, this is not moving at all.
I do have a small fuel cell in the back and no of the padding in the rumble so there is less weight on the rear but even with me in the rumble it does not settle at all.
I have used some shackles to move the offset around to try and soften them up but no dice. I can remove say every other leaf but do not want to lower the car. I can deal with a inch or so but not 4-5'.
I don't think de-arching the spring will help much but will give it a try if that is the answer.
