Here are some larger shots of your "before" and "after" photos of your 1942 Ford Sedan. You need to get rid of those bright hubcaps and inner dress rims.
Was this a bronze colour when it was a rod? I've got a pic of the bronze job in my photo album? After about 15 years in the hands of another owner, I have my old '42 Staff Car back in my possession. I bought it first in 1992 as a Hot Rod, then spent the next 4 years restoring back to original with a G-series 6 Cyl. motor. I then sold it about 15 years ago to a military vehicle collector who managed to neglect the regular maintenance of the car. He offered it back to me recently and I was happy to take it back.
After sorting the wiring, refitting the hood properly, fixing the wiper motor, replaced all the perished tires, replacing soft engine mounts and bolted the rear axle back in properly to name a few fixes. I have been able to drive it again. However his 'new' paint job leaves a lot to be desired and the headliner is quite shabby, but all can be fixed given time and money.
I am enjoying the drive and renewing an old friendship in the process![]()

Here are shots of a similar 1942 Ford Fordor Sedan that I saw at Lake Tahoe back in 2013. Notice the different tail lights etc.

I also remember a 42 sedan with a 41 dash in Manley Tce off Columbo st in Wellington back in 1978 (at the end of the street near a brothel).
There was also a ratty 47 business cpe keeping it company.
Edit: It was the bronze job....just seen the pic I missed in the thread. Wonder if that was the same car that was in Manley Tce.
