36 5 window trunk back

Follow-up on the 35-36 trunk board.

Board appears to be pine and a true 3/4" thickness.

Length is 43-1/2" by 7" wide.

Bottom on each end is a notch 1/2" high by 2-7/8" long.

Hand holes are each 5" overall length by 1" high with 1" diameter ends cutout.

End of hand hole is 7" from each end.

Bolt hole on each end is 3/8" diameter and located 2-5/8" from the top and 1-3/4" from the end.

Carriage bolts are 3/8" diameter by 1-1/4" long.

Need 1-1/4" flat washer, lock washer and nut.

Hope this helps.
top edge looks to be rounded over too, how far down from top is the hand slot? 1-1/4"? do hand slots have 1/4 round routed in to them?

Hears a retouched photo of the board showing dimensions

i noticed 1 car has the board in front of the upright braces & the other has it behind. is that a difference between 3 & 5 windows or what? my car has no boards at all. didn't know they were supposed to be there untill this thread!

one measurement missing for the curved ends of the hand slots. Need a measurement along the 5 inch length to show the distance between where the curves start at each end. It would allow you to make uniform curves on the ends by placing circular object between the end points on both sides and drawing around it.

Note that the board is a total of 7" wide and the notches on each end are 1/2" from the total width of the board.

Thanks Gary...My error in marking up photo. Here is an amended copy.

Also, here are some photos of the board that covers the trunk drain pipes. It's attached with 4 screws at the top (2/side) and 2 screws at the bottom (1/side). The bottom screws attach to wooden blocks that are held to the floor with 2 screws each (4 total).

OK good effort thanks Ted

If you need something more detailed, just let me know. I promised I would try and snap some photos over the weekend; wanted to keep my commitment. Time in the garage has been hard to come by lately. I can get some more detailed measurements; just wanted to get some info out there to show how it’s attached.

Let me know what you need.

Great thread; sure like to thank everybody that has posted for the info; learned a lot.

While we are thinking about trunk stuff; I would like to raise a question I had earlier.

The '35-'36 book states that there is a weather strip in the body channel and another in the lid.

I was kinda hoping the pictures in posts 2, 3, and 7 would help; but there does not appear to be any weatherstrip on the body side.

Anyway, my question is how the body side weatherstrip is handled around the drain holes?

Also, here are some photos of the board that covers the trunk drain pipes. It's attached with 4 screws at the top (2/side) and 2 screws at the bottom (1/side). The bottom screws attach to wooden blocks that are held to the floor with 2 screws each (4 total).

Great stuff too. Thank you, needed that info. I removed 100# of flat steel from the floors of my 36 that the previous owner pop riveted over the original floors steel (why?) also sandwiched it with tar.
Once i removed the steel andnscrapped the tar, which might have saved the floor pans in some respect, saw really decent floors... that rear cover was a aluminum deal that was also pop riveted in.... i guess the guy liked rivets.

Thank you to all. following it. Very informative. Need to make the trunk panel posted, mine is gone.

For what it's worth......A further note on the Rear deck compartment partition board (48-725922) It appears that this board was not included in early 1935 coupes with trunks. The first reference that I have to this board is in the July 1935 Body Pars list. The March 1935 version does not include it.
