'41 - '48 Cowl vent alignment

I am in the process of refitting the cowl vent to one of my '42 Sedan Delivery's, can anybody offer any instructions on how to get the alignment just right. It's a little hit and miss at the moment and I'd like to minimize the time I spend upside down under the dash :)

Bob Drake has a 6 page illustrated set of instructions: Installation Instructions 01A-426-HK is the document number. I used it for my '41 cowl vent and everything works very well.

Joe, I don't see where to get those instructions on Bob Drake's website. How can I get them? Thanks, Dave

Thanks Rich. I've never seen instructions so detailed from Drake! Alignment instructions are still vague though.

I actually had to cut the arms and reweld them on my 46 to get it to pull down all the way. And it still leaks. Used a drake seal.

I went through the same issue with my 48. Came to the conclusion I should have fitted the vent prior to installing the rubber gasket.

Possible, I suppose. That didn't make any difference with my F1 which has the same basic design as the 46-48 cars.
