We kept the original mechanical brake system. That will be more than adequate for this light-weight speedster. Heck! It's more than adequate for a COMPLETE Model A!

I found that the “39 transmission had a weak casing compared to the gears. I ran it behind a 283 punched out to 301 with a roller tappet cam. It was rated at 3/4 race and was too much torque for the ’39 ******. I cracked 3 or 4 casings when hitting second gear in my ’34 Ford cabriolet.
Hi Mark. Yes i have seen those, Clings no longer offers the Model A to stock trans kit, he said they are just too busy with other non Model A business, but i saw they have one for 1939 conversions. I picked up the trans and kit yesterday, it appears to be the Clings kit. I am thinking I will be fabbing my own Master cylinder set up. Off to work for a couple long shifts, but will post some pics of what I have later in the week. BTW...that Ebay setup looks pretty well done, any line on who sold those?
Have you opened a bleeder screw and mashed the pedal to see if the "safety circuit" really is working? The pedal travel, linkage angles and ratios all have to be at factory design specs or you lose the backup safety factor. The pedal may bottom out before the second piston in the master cylinder is activated. This is often overlooked when this conversion is done.Nosetime, I have had that battery box master cylinder in my Tudor for 10 years.
It is very well made and has the 2 circuit master cylinder for safety. It bolt right in, no fabrication.
