Bob Drake Notebook Style Catalog

Thanks for the post Bob. Without suppliers like yourself the hobby would falter due to lack of parts. Keep up the good work.

If a person tried to bring even one single simple part to market they would have a new appreciation for the work that guys like Bob Drake do. I applaud Drake and he is an unsung hero in my book. Futhermore the dude is a real Ford guy that puts Ford engines in his Ford cars. That's more than I can say for alot of so called Ford guys I've met in my travels.

So honestly, you guys don't think that it is a fair and mutually beneficial proposal that a business, any business automotive related that deals in antique Ford product can find equity and value in becoming an alliance vendor and sharing in the benefits of the exposure of these forums that we are on. I see it as a very fair and equitable "idea", and from my perspective just that, and one that any business that is automotive related should find extremely easy to make. As far as his worth he is one of the fore most suppliers of Licensed Ford reproduction product in the world, he would be a very valuable and distinguished asset to the Barn and HAMB. Many of the afore mentioned businesses that are being referred to have and do support the sites. Roadster 36, yes I do think that the forums are a good advertising medium and value, and yes I have done extensive homework. If ad space were available for my business on this type of a site I would be in with a grin. Ryan, if I'm out of line with my promotion of your sites as an exposure bonanza and a prime value just give me a holler to stop. Thanks

FWIW, Coker Tires is a HAMB Alliance Member. I don't think there is such a thing on Ford Barn per se but it would be worth Ryan exploring.

I think it is great that a vendor is taking some interest in the people that buy his products. GREAT, AMAZING, THOUGHTFUL post on the "tips from bob drake". That is the kind of stuff we hobby guys need. In terms of defending yourself, all you have to do is make the "right" part in the "best" quality. You of all people know what that is. Actions speak louder than words. As a 28 year old ford restorer (my wife says I need to knock it off because this is an "old mans hobby"), I have respect for those "old timers" that give advice and guidance rather than a "should have been there" or "my knowledge is too valuable" attitude. In regards to the guy who runs this site, Bob and all the shops out there should do official advertising on this site. I check it daily as do you guys and I would value companies that support the customer and webmaster, whether he has 1 dollar to his name or 1 million dollars to his name. Without this site, I could not work on my truck. (however, the guy who owns this NEEDS to get shirts and stuff made up with the site logo or whatever and make some money. I would pay). There is a circle of life here in this hobby and we need to support one another, starting with the big dogs with all their money.

I hear all the blunder and complaining about the Ford repo suppliers. Where were you all when all there was available was the " made in Argentina " ?

The parts available now may not always meet all expectations, but they are light years ahead of the " Argentina" stuff
Dick

Thanks Bob for all that you do . I am currently restoring a 39 Lincoln zephyr and there are not many reproduction parts available for this car . Everything you buy seems to start at $600 .I have restored several early Fords and have bought from you for the last 20 years. If it were not for people like you everyone building an early Ford would be facing the same delima. There is many early Fords ,original and streetrods, running the roads today because of dedicated people like you.:D
Keep up the good work !!

I have only bought a couple of items from Bob and have had no problems.
As I statistically analyze the comments on this thread and the "survey" on the previous one about him, I have confirmed my suspicions that the complainers are a very small but "noisy minority." I appreciate reading the more positive comments that are now being made by the "silent majority" that have had good experience and appreciate Bob's business.

I stop at Bob's tent every year at Hershey. You may have to wait in line to talk to him but you will not find a nicer person to talk with about Fords.

I can't believe the hostility towards several of our home grown USA old Ford parts suppliers. Personally i think the quality of current repop parts is awesome and the prices for the most are reasonable. The technical help they offer us is to be commended. I dont have any problem with Bob Drake explaining possible catalog offerings that are not even a money-maker. A good parts catalog is worth whatever postage i have to pay to get it, as a source of information!
Home grown U.S.A.?

Just where would we be without Bob Drake, Mac's, Dennis Carpenter, and all the other vendors that provide needed parts? Think of the cost of original parts and the scarcity if not for these guys. A lot of the cars we drive would have been parted out to make someone else's car complete if not for the abundant availability of reproduction parts. Don't forget eBay, like them or not I have bought lots of good parts from them.

I hadn't worked on a flathead Ford since the 50's. In 2006 I bought a `35 Cabriolet that had sat for over 35 years. Without these very vendors, old Ford friends with spare parts and eBay it would still be in pieces. Too, between this site and the old Fordbarn site I gathered lots of knowledge on how to restore my car.

Count your blessings!

I'm in the throws of restoring a '40 Ford Tudor. Over the last three years I have purchased MANY needed parts from Bob Drake. Very satisfied. Recently made another call for more items. A fine lady answered my call. I had a technical question, thinking maybe she would transfer my call. NOPE, she had the answer immediately! Pleasant surprise.

Huh, out of 35 or more posts, I only counted a couple of negative comments.

I have used Bob Drake parts a few times, and will use them again.

If it were not for business like Drakes where would we be? The wealthy would have the best and the average person would have whats left.We always hear about what some companies are doing to customers but we do not see or hear what some customers do to business lee34

As a "Ford Guy" I would appreciate it a lot more if his descriptions were a little more accurate; example "1935 Ford truck mirrors, exactly as original", Uh 35 mirrors were 5 inches in diameter and black not 4 inches and chrome.

But I do like most of his stuff and I'm glad he is here.
