I took apart the speed o on my 47 coupe all the guts look pretty clean, but where the speed o cable hooks into the back is pretty crusty. Do you guys think it's fixable?
I put a lil PB blaster on it last night. Is there a way to bench test it?It shouldn't be a problem. Clean it up and lube the shaft and gears with light oil. If it isn't stuck it should be okay.
I don't even have the speed o cable anyone not sure how long it's been sitting out in the elements before I bought the carAlso check the turtle gear at the transmission... when I had my trans rebuilt last Nov, I replaced the cable & turtle gear (worn,chipped)... It works perfect now! ....![]()
that sounds easy enough, I might just use a ratchet and work it loose first. Was the speed-o cable threaded into the assy?
I wonder if soaking that end in vinegar will help speed things along
