Probably homemade or school shop project. If it were factory, it would have a FoMoCo or Mercury logo and part number, I'm thinking.

probably something a previous owner bought or had made, and used it to block one of the wheels when changing a flat.

Hi' Front wheel block, When changing a rear. Bumper jack puts the rear way up in the air to clear a rear wheel off. Newc

no doubt it is for blocking front tire when changing rear tire. It is black tar or creosote coated and is from back in the day. question is was it a bought part or did it come with the car and jack parts?

No it didn't come with the car from the assembly plant. It would seem if the dealer threw it in, there would be some advertising involved. So, sorry, not a part anyone recognizes.

I have the exact same block and a tool kit. Not FoMoCo but Chrysler. prod.
What I have I saved from a new 1951 DeSoto my father bought new.
they all had a tool kit from the factory.

HMMM,
I can not recall the stamping, but I had one of those black, wood-chocks in a '50 Plymouth that I bought at forty thousand miles.
